Mission Valley Jr./Sr. High School Daily Announcements Jan. 22 – Jan. 25, 2020 Wednesday, Jan. 22 NHS Mtg. @ 7:45 a.m. in Mrs. Spoon’s classroom Mission Valley Spelling Bee @ 1 p.m. FCCLA Chpt. Meeting during seminar ACC Coordinator at MV – 2:30-3:30 p.m. Play practice from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Students- We will be offering a Pep Bus for students to go support our HS Boys and Girls BB teams this Friday and possibly Saturday. There is a sign-up sheet on the table outside the HS office. There is also a BLUE parent permission sheet that must be signed by your parents and turned into the office by Thursday to be able to ride the bus. Since you will be leaving school early students must be in good standing, you cannot be failing any classes nor missing any assignments. This is a privilege to get this opportunity. BAND and CHEERLEADERS you DO NOT need to sign up or get permission slips. Your sponsors will have your attendance sheet. STUDENTS that ride the pep bus MUST ride home on the bus. The theme for Friday night will be VIKING NATION (like Chief Nation) wear your CRIMSON (red) and GOLD. Thursday, Jan. 23 FFA Ag Symposium in Salina SADD/SAFE meet during seminar 8th Grade Book Club meets during seminar H.S. Scholars Bowl @ Holton – 4 p.m. Van will leave MV @ 2 p.m. and return around 9:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 Viking Saga meets during seminar High School wrestling @ Council Grove – 2 p.m. Bus will leave MV @ 12 p.m. H.S. Girls Basketball @ Emporia (Flint Hills Shoot Out) – 3 p.m. H.S. Boys basketball @ Emporia (Flint Hills Shoot Out) – 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 Flint Hill Basketball Shoot Out @ Emporia - TBA

The HS will be taking a Pep Bus to the games on Friday afternoon. Students need to have a permission slip turned into the office by 9:00 am on Friday morning. Mr. Johnson MUST HAVE THE SIGNED SHEET. You will not be able to ride the bus if you try and have a parent call in on Friday. If you ride the pep bus you are required to ride the bus back to Mission Valley and will not be allowed to ride home with another student or other parents. If you ride the pep bus your attendance will be counted as a school activity. The school is sponsoring the opportunity. IF you choose to have your parents call in and excuse you to go to the game it will count as an excused absence, but is not exempt. Remember, the Pep Bus will be leaving at 1:30 p.m. you will need $3.00 for admission to the game and then any extra money for concessions. The bus will not stop on the way back. THEME is "VIKING NATION" come dressed in the Crimson and GOLD

REMINDER: January 29, 2020 from 6pm-8pm MVHS, KSDE, Wabco Sheriff, Crosswinds, & other MH agencies are presenting on the negative effects of social media & suicide awareness/prevention. FREE DAYCARE IS PROVIDED. BEVERAGE & SNACKS ONSITE, SEE FLYER FOR DETAILS! SHARE!!! SHARE!!!

February 3-7 is National School Counseling Week: Please take time to talk to your students and children about mental health, college/career readiness, academic success, and character development. These topics will be brought to the students attention throughout the week.

The West Franklin BB games that were postponed last Friday, have been rescheduled for Tues, Jan. 28 @ WFHS in Pomona. JV Girls begin @ 4:00, followed by JV Boys, V Girls and V Boys. Please adjust your calendars!

Congratulations to our HS Wrestlers who placed in the St. Mary's Invitational Meet yesterday. MV placed 7th out of 14 teams! Nolan Parker placed 1st. Shelby Kesler, Caleb Lisk, Justice Dunbar, Jon Grame, & Colby Hinck all placed 2nd in their weight groups and Laken Lewis took 4th. Great Job Vikings!!!

Jr. High Wrestling practice will begin Mon. Jan. 20 at 4:30 pm until 5:45pm. Then 6 am practices for the rest of next week. If you haven’t done a fall or winter sport then make sure to bring the following signed forms: Physical, Concussion and Insurance/Emergency Contact forms. Go Vikes!
